Aromatherapy’s use has been commemorated for centuries, dating back to 2000 BC, but taking true precedence as modern day aromatherapy in the late 1800s when French chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse accidentally burned himself and healed his burns with lavender essence.

That is in essence what aromatherapy is - the use of essential oils, extracted from plants for therapeutic purposes, to improve skin's overall appearance as well as one’s physical and emotional wellbeing.

But, how does it work? You may ask. Aromatherapy is a complex practice, but let us looks at its basic properties.

On an emotional level, aromatherapy uses our most primitive sense – smell, which is linked to the deepest parts of the brain that govern basic instincts, memories and emotions to trigger emotional and physical responses.

On a physical level, because the essential oils are made up of very small molecules, they are able to penetrate into your blood stream as well as the deeper layers of the skin and body tissue, easing muscular aches and sinus congestion, improving circulation, optimizing the skin’s cellular renewal process while addressing problems such as acne, eczema, ageing skin, amongst many others. In addition, all essential oils are anti-bacterial, many anti-fungal and some believed to be anti-viral.

At Enscent we believe that healthy and beauty enrich people’s lives. With a passion and sense of beauty woven into the very fabric of our organization, our vision is to deeply engage with our customers to realize beauty’s true essential: Natural and Healthy.
