ABOUT AROMATHERAPY
Originated from Europe, aromatherapy is considered as gift of nature. The history of aromatherapy can be traced back about 5000 years ago, aromatics are mentioned many times in the Old Testament and New Testament of Bible, the ancient Egyptians also loved to use aromatics and perfumery to protect and beautify themselves.
Today's Aromatherapy and concepts began with a French chemist, René-Maurice Gattefosse who coined the term "Aromatherapie" in his book published in 1928 and advocated medical use of essential oils. Another French doctor named Jean Valnet studied the therapeutic virtues of essential oils clinically and developed an unprecedented knowledge of aromatherapy.
Not belonging to conventional medicine based on the usual methods, aromatherapy is a natural, preventive, complementary and alternative therapy concentrating on not only the part of body but also the whole person, which complements the traditional medicine and conventional medicine, widely used in many European countries as a adjunctive treatment such as French, Switzerland, Germany etc.
Aromatherapy is a therapeutic application that utilizes natural essential oils, hydrosols and plant oils to evoke the body’s own intrinsic healing power and enhance physical and psychological well-being with the aim of allowing the body’s system to balance, repair and restore health and having a natural healthy lifestyle.
On a physical level, because the essential oils are made up of very small molecules, they are able to penetrate into your blood stream as well as the deeper layers of the skin and body tissue, easing muscular aches and sinus congestion, improving circulation, optimizing the skin’s cellular renewal process while addressing problems such as acne, eczema, ageing skin, amongst many others. In addition, all essential oils are anti-bacterial, many anti-fungal and some believed to be anti-viral.
On an emotional level, aromatherapy uses our most primitive sense – smell, which is linked to the deepest parts of the brain that govern basic instincts, memories and emotions to trigger emotional and physical responses, to relieve fear, depress, stress, insomnia, headache and so on.
